Coloring by Numbers

I love using color by number worksheets with my Pre-K students working on colors and numbers. They are easy to make and adaptable to exactly the colors you are teaching that day. For instance if you only teach 3 colors in a day, you can make a color by numbers that has only 3 numbers/colors. Essentially you can take any simple coloring worksheet and add your own key that explains which numbers mean which colors. You can also make your own.

I am up to six colors with my Pre-K students and I made a sheet today to have them practice after my lesson. I took a much more complicated coloring worksheet of a pinata and traced it using more simple lines. Then I added my own numbers and key. Here is a finished example:

If you were teaching less colors you could white out the numbers 4-6 and replace them with 1-3 making it a 3 color worksheet. I really like the flexibility of this kind of worksheet. Here is a blank copy of this example:
